Niederlipka [Mittel-Lipka]
Frank Soural, whose grandparents, Franz Soural and Frieda
Katzer, were running the above Lipka station inn, reports the following
tragic story:
In winter 1910 an unexpected, hard stroke of fate hit my
grandmother. It was late at night and the last patrons and people
from the trains had already left. Just one unknown man was still
there and you could see that he had already drunk a lot. Grandfather
was just counting the money behind the bar when the man grabbed
a beer stein and knocked him down. Grandfather died without regaining
consciousness. The man escaped with just e few crowns across
the border to Silesia. The next morning he was found half frozen
in the snow.
