Portrait: Bernhard Katzer
Bernhard Katzer, the author of these pages, was born in Waldshut am Hochrhein, Germany. His father, Gerhard Katzer, came from Berlin originally. Due to the wartime his parents finally ended up in Amrigschwand near Waldshut.
Bernhard Katzer was raised in Waldshut and Donaueschingen. After his examination at the local Fürstenberg-Gymnasium and 18 months of military service in Wetzlar and Treysa (today's Schwalmstadt) he studied English language und geography in Freiburg. Since 1976 he has been employed as a teacher at Robert-Gerwig-Schule in Singen am Hohentwiel. In 1977 he began to look for traces of his ancestors. He was partcularly fascinated by the possiblity of getting into contact with namesakes all over the world via the internet. That is why he started the Katzer Homepage which has meanwhile received numerous contributions and amendments from visitors.
